Tip: Categorizing images

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations"). Pro-tip: The CommonSense tool can help you find the best category for your image.

Ah, thanks! Yes, I'll eventually get around asking for that. I'm not sure how much time I'll spend on Commons - I'm stupidily busy in real life and trying to edit some articles on pt.wp, an activity I admit missed very much. Fotos próprias apagadas

Foram apagadas fotos minhas - de minha autoria - devido à infração de Copyright(C). Não entendi a questão. Por exemplo, a Lagoa do Foge está sem fotografia, sendo que é um sítio de visitação pública e atracnao turística de Santa Catarina. Peço a sua ajuda nesta questão.

Peco desculpa pelo atraso na resposta, mas é raro eu entrar no Commons.

Pelo que pude entender, as fotos que foram apagadas são consideradas obra derivada de outra pré-existente. Eu não tenho acesso aos ficheiros eliminados, pelo que estou só a deduzir pelo que li. Em pelo menos um caso, tratava-se de uma fotografia de outra fotografia. É necessário comprovar nesse caso que a foto original (a que foi fotografada/escaneada) é também trabalho original seu. Se você não tirou essa foto, então você não é o detentor dos direitos de autor da foto, e não pode publicar uma foto dessa foto como sendo trabalho seu. Patrícia ^msg 17:11, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
