Functions: DustyBot already watches Featured Picture listings at English Wikipedia. This task extends its operation to include updating the Commons {{Assessments}} tags for pictures that have recently been listed or delisted. It will only modify the template parameters pertaining to English Wikipedia. DustyBot will be making about 100 edits per month for this task.

Discussion

• I've never taken part in a bot proposal before but I would like to note that this bot will save me much time and effort in the future, so I'm all for it. It will be useful in getting the {{Assessments}} template universally applied to all en:wiki featured pictures, which is a goal as of late so any updated version of this template will affect all en:wiki FPs.     • I have checked every edit. The bot has managed to make sure that links work to all nomination pages, also those with non-standard names. The test run also shows that the bot manages to merge in en-fpc data in an existing Assessments template. It looks good! --Slaunger (talk) 22:08, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

    • None of these were already featured at another wiki. What about when the Assessments template is already there and all it requires is enwiki=1|enwiki-nom=xxx? ~ ωαdεstεr16_«talk^stalk» 16:19, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
      • File:Currier and Ives Brooklyn Bridge2.jpg was already featured on commons and the dif shows the bot can merge in the en parameters in an existing template. I do not think it would matter if it were on another wiki it was already featured. --Slaunger (talk) 16:22, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

• I'd just like to add that I fully support the purpose of the bots operations. I had actually thought of doing the same task with SlaungerBot, which I am working on when time permits, as part of regular clean-ups of the {{Assessments}} template. However, I find it much more natural that adding the en-fp specific parameters are done as part of the en-FPC closing procedures. Note that there is an ongoing discussion at Template talk:Assessments to replace the template with another one to fix various problems with the existing template. If and when that is done it will of course affect DustyBots operation, be we will make sure that Wronkiew is kept informed about the progress, and that a possible replacement is coordinated with DustyBot. --Slaunger (talk) 20:27, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
