i18n of the page[edit]

I did this edit http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Commons%3APhotoworkshop_Nyk%C3%B6ping_2010&action=historysubmit&diff=36095295&oldid=36004758
I'll do the same with the other section of the page.
Beside I'd be for removing the flag from the other (future) section: those are not country but languages.
I'll also adds the french version.

various questions about the current status of the event[edit]

What are the exact prices associated with the SVIF Youth Hostel and the Railway hostel if there is any?
More over, what is the exact status of the current project? organized? definitive? possibly cancelable? I got a message on my talk page assuming it is on way, but I'd like more information about it.
I can help (and probably some other people can too) if there are things that needs to be cleared or checked in depth in the current page.
I can also probably present (in english / french althought they are not many french speakers for now) how to perform stiching with hugin.

Is Wikmedia Sverige involved in the project ? TCY (talk) 20:23, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse my very bad english. Wikimedia Sverige is involved, she are official the organizers. --Ralf Roletschek (talk) 20:27, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'll try to answer the questions:

  • Wikimedia Sverige and Wikimedia Deutschland are involved in the project, Wikimedia Deutschland is financially supporting the workshop.
  • The project is definite, for all registered people the beds are booked and already payed, and the actual meeting room will be payed soon.
  • The hostel is about 200kr./night in a double room, the same for the railway hostel. Previously we had 20+ reservations, but we could not keep them so long, i.e. I don't know right now how many are still available. However, I don't think that anybody will be there over easter, and there is still the Ibis hotel for 25 EUR/person in a double room. And in the worst case we can fill up some rooms with 6 persons. Depending on the number of participants we may have some budget for subsidies for this.
  • If you have something to lecture about: put it in the list.
  • You can help to promote this workshop on your Wikipedia. --Prolineserver (talk) 21:58, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Questions about the content and various possibles language issues for the event[edit]

I have been wondering about the languages used for the event. I am referring to the actual list of content:
Am I right in assuming that for now the content will be available in either english or german, depending the public?
Some friends of mine are asking me if this involves real workshop with material manipulation, conferences or both types of events.
I can probably add french & english content, some french talking people can also be interested in that too.

Esby (talk) 10:19, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I tried to keep the the English content of the planning page up to date, and partly the Swedish. The traveling information depends on the language, the rest should rely on the english and the translations are just an "additional service". We hope to get rid of the German dominance.
During the workshop we will have both, talks and practical stuff, but I don't think we will really separate it. I currently prefer a very flexible organization similar to the developer meeting in Berlin last spring: We look what people are interested in and do it. For now we have two rooms, a projector and Wifi. We may get some table top equipment and a studio flash equipment if we request it from Wikimedia Germany (but I personally don't see a real use in the latter one). An then we can produce some content outside. We also have a car, we can e.g. put some people in some villages around and collect them after two hours to the next village to do Pictures there (or map something for OSM, may be Mike Collisson from OSM joins, too). Ideas are always welcome! Regarding the language we certainly have to communicate mainly in English during the workshop, but I don't think that this is a large problem, we're photographers and don't produce text content. --Prolineserver (talk) 11:38, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Swedish SIM cards[edit]

Is anybody interested in Swedish SIM cards? It should be possible to get them for free, but they have to be charged with about 8 EUR to activate them. Prepaid telephony is really cheap in Sweden, with these cards it is about 5ct. to call to common European countries, and depending on the selected tariff (selected when recharging the card) SMS or telephony is free for 30days. Additionally they can be used for paying the Bus in Nyköping. Who would be interested? --Prolineserver (talk) 06:34, 19 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Got no mobile phone, so no real use for me. Just a quick question, can payment in euro done or must be krones used at all cost? Esby (talk) 08:12, 31 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, at many places you can pay in Euros, but the change rate is artificial (also at the exchange desk at the airport.). Usually you pay everywhere in Sweden with your Credid/Maestro Card, even if it is just some cents... I guess last time I was using cash was in January. Depending on your conditions at your bank It may be the best if you get some swedish money from an ATM, but in the worst case can I also play bank to change money, I have accounts in Euroland and Sweden. --Prolineserver (talk) 17:29, 31 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well my condition at the bank should be ok, but I never tried to pay anything in Swede, so I guess I'll be sure once I'll be there. For the shopping list, I ain't sure as the packaging may vary and the available food might differ from France. I guess there will be some kind of grocery available in Nyköping. If there is none, pick me some bacon/ham + cheddar (200g ish) & possibly 6 eggs. Not sure if the airport rules will allow me to bring some french food. But I guess I can try to bring a few good things. Esby (talk) 22:08, 31 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Where can I get some impressions of the workshop?[edit]

Hi! Did you enjoy the meeting? Is there any information, what sort of work you've done? Any pictures? This would be nice for those, who couldn't took part. Greetings from Bonn, germany - --Sir James (talk) 07:46, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Right now, commonist does not work, I have a batch of photograph to upload, I'll have another few ones too later... This will probably be coming in the category associated to the workshop or its subcats... Esby (talk) 15:49, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
