Ernesto Maserati with the Tipo 26 at 1931 GP Tunis

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Entry #46 at Tunis GP on 29 March 1931 was a Maserati Tipo 26 driven by Ernesto Maserati who ended in 8th place overall (but won the 1500 ccm class). This car was originally entered by Clemente Biondetti, but he wanted to drive the Maserati V4 that Alfieri did not drive. [1] Complicated ... Ernesto is on the left, unknown in the middle and Luigi Parenti is the mechanic without a cap to the right. Since the grille is slanted and the tail is finned (not spare wheels), this is most likely not the "pure" original Tipo 26 (which had an upright grille, I think); but since it is in the 1500ccm class, it should be a Tipo 26 (and not Tipo 26B), but perhaps the 26C which was only 1,1 litre.
