English: The ancient Mesopotamian deity Ishtar (or Ištar) is the Assyrian and Babylonian goddess of sexual love, fertility, and warfare. She is the counterpart to the Sumerian goddess Inanna and to the cognate north-west Semitic goddess Astarte.
