Nirmand, also spelled Nirmund, is a town (large village) overlooking the Sutlej valley of Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district. Its history can be traced to pre-8th century. Local legends link it to Parashurama, a Vishnu Avatara. Nirmund has several Hindu temples and other historic monuments with notable wooden and stone carvings. These include a Baoli, a Hindu goddess temple, a Shiva tradition temple, two Vishnu tradition temples and few other monuments. Small artwork panels, statues and temple parts from 7th to 14th century are found in many small temples and hill side homes of Nirmand.
