English: St. Mary's Priory of Kildare, commonly called White Abbey, was founded as house of Carmelite friars by William de Vescy in 1290. The priory was suppressed in 1539 but refounded in the 1750s. The present day church was designed by William Hague in the Gothic revival style in the ecclesiastical tradition of A. W. Pugin and built in 1884–1889. See Gwynn & Hadcock and DIA record.
