Scope:
Los Dragos Gemelos (Dracaena draco), Breña Alta, La Palma
Reason:
"Los Dragos Gemelos" are the oldest and most famous dragon trees of the Island of La Palma (For more informations see image caption). Therefore it is strange that there exists no other picture of these trees on Commons. -- Llez (talk)

Comment We should see the binomial name in the scope and caption. There seems to be Dracaena draco. --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 10:44, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Scope:
Henry David Thoreau, portrait photograph
Reason:
high resolution and quality portrait of a famous writer, completely restored -- Yann (talk)

Support Useful and used.I  Oppose this in favor of the other ones. --BoothSift 23:49, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Comment If I had to do it, I would have chosen the same options. The original continues to exist and the restoration is an alternative, there is no problem if we add to the scope the word restored. --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 05:29, 7 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Photographs of Thoreau
Used in:
en:Henry David Thoreau, en:Pacifism, en:Tax Resistance, en:Conscience, fr:Henry David Thoreau etc.
Reason:
Henry David Thoreau only sat for his photograph twice, and this restored image is from his earliest sitting. When an admirer wrote to Thoreau from Michigan in 1856 asking for Thoreau's daguerreotype and enclosing money to defray its cost, the author reluctantly obliged. A visit to Maxham's Daguerrean Palace yielded this 50-cent portrait, which Thoreau dutifully sent to the requestor along with $1.70 in change. -- Scewing (talk)

Support it is useful to link the scope to the category. Very useful --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 19:05, 2 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • I think your vote (and of some others) are not quite consistent. In the FP nomination, the grayscale image was said that it lacks the yellow tone of the original. So now, this one is too yellow?... BTW, I checked on 2 different monitors, and the jacket is not orange or yellow for me. However, in the version you supports, the face and the shirt look yellowish to me. Regards, Yann (talk) 19:50, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • That's because the entire photo is sepia-toned. Though perhaps I'm missing something. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:26, 2 April 2019 (UTCthe )
  • You wouldn't accept a tilt of a building in a 19th-century photo? I would. I feel like what you're doing is akin to deciding Beethoven couldn't have meant to use a particular dissonance. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:06, 3 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm saying that if a historic photo is tilted, we can't assume that's unintentional. If the problem is that the reproduction of the photo is poor, that's something else. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 18:42, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
