- Oppose Only the heads are in focus. We have a better picture of this due to better positioning of the subject (Not that much better; the male (?) is almost OOF). -- Jkadavoor (Jee) (talk) 06:29, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
- Comment I didn't want to compare my picture with others. All my pictures show the life in real nature. And it is not simple to make such pictures in the wild. For me the quality is good. The poeple should decide without your competition thinking. (correction necessary, because I thought the picture in your link was from you - a mistake). However, the picture in your link isn't better than mine I find, just different. Hockei (talk) 18:14, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
- I too happy if people promote my works without proper reviews. But "our main goal is to feature most valuable pictures from all others". How can I find the most valuable without comparing the images available in the same category? I came to know form my little experience that making such pictures in the wild is very difficult. But my comparison was with same situation and same subject. Correct me if I'm wrong. (It seems a provoking argument from an experienced user so I checked your stream. Is this your first nomination?) -- Jkadavoor (Jee) (talk) 05:43, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose Too much distraction from plant and empty space. The image Jkadavoor links is a simpler composition with less distraction. I suggest this image can be improved with a square crop that has the diagonal position of the butterflies approximately crossing the diagonal of the frame. The crop I suggest takes a little off the top (reduce the gap above the butterfly in half) but nothing from the bottom (to retain the whole of that spiky white seed. Then crop left and right to form a 1:1 ratio with equal gap before the antennae on the left and wings on the right. The focus, to me, seems acceptable. Colin (talk) 15:16, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks. My picturs are all made in format 16:9 and I don't want to cut them so it is good to use as background image or in modern TV's and so on. When anybody like my picture and wants to use it for another purpose who can cut or crop it as he wants. There is another version of this butterflies who was they sitting on a rosehip. Maybe you find it better but I decided me for this. For me this thistles make the picture on closer inspection more interesting. This is a matter of opinion. Hockei (talk) 16:30, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
- I'm not suggesting you replace this one with the cropped one. I agree that uploading an uncropped image is useful. But you can upload a crop and propose it as alternative at FP (even if you still prefer the original). See Commons:Featured picture candidates/File:Petirrojo europeo (Erithacus rubecula), Tierpark Hellabrunn, Múnich, Alemania, 2012-06-17, DD 02.JPG for example. Colin (talk) 19:32, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
