Reason | I hold this image to be the most valuable illustration of Antifascist graffiti for several reasons: First, the symbol that is shown, being a pictographic man throwing a Nazi swastika into a litter bin, is arguably the most intuitively understandable symbol depicting antifascism. It is also the most common antifascist symbol in modern Germany. It can frequently be encountered in daily life, being featured in many graffiti, on stickers, T-shirts and so forth. Thirdly, the many other graffiti and tags around it illustrate its nature and the environments in which it is usually found. Through this position amoung other graffiti, it stands out not only by its colour, but also by being the one political statement amoung many "aimless scribbles". -- MichaelBueker (talk) |
