Oppose I don't think the scope is relevant. If I were standing on the Tour Montparnasse and looked in the other direction, I would see something totally different. I'm not convinced a view from scope is acceptable. W.S. 09:57, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

How does your argument fit in with Commons:Valued image scope? There is a Commons category in standard format for this scope (Category:Views from the Tour Montparnasse). We may or may not add Paris, but even without subdividing Category:Views from the Tour Montparnasse further, I think it's (currently) the most valuable one. --  Docu  at 10:15, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
A copiously filled category does not necessarily warrant a VI scope. I can cite from my own field e.g. Category:Alligator mississippiensis heads or Category:Mammals of Zambia. Not all topics are well-enough defined or suitable to be eligible for VI IMO. W.S. 11:16, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Even if the scope of Alligator mississippiensis heads is too narrow, one might consider them suitable for a slightly larger scope (Alligator heads) and the resulting image would still come from Alligator mississippiensis heads. Which scope would consider for this image? --  Docu  at 11:52, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
A 'view of' VI may be considered, not a 'view from' IMO. W.S. 12:54, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
So you'd consider it when the scope were explicitly "Views of Paris from Tour Montparnasse"? --  Docu  at 12:57, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No, sorry. the place where a picture is taken from doesn't seem relevant IMO. (if it where an aerial image then the type of plane it was taken from wouldn't be important neither). W.S. 13:04, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Point of view/perspective is a general criterion for categorizing images at Commons. If the location was indifferent, people wouldn't climb up on several different towers. Even for aerial images, the location would be of importance (unless it's a "plan view" or the view of a moving object). --  Docu  at 13:14, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Docu, thank you for nominating this picture. The "arguments" of Wetenschatje are not seldom against the picture itself but against the person that had made the picture, that is my experience. So please don`t look after the logic of his arguments because there can't be found. --Wladyslaw (talk) 10:34, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
