Hello,

I'm sorry that I cannot help here, but I'd like to request a bit of Radio Belgique, broadcast by the BBC during World War II. In particular the "Ici Radio Belgique"/"Hier, Radio Belgie" line at the front of every broadcast would be great. From the same point of view the Fate motif at the start of all BBC foreign-service programmes (the morse sign for V-for-Victory) would be useful in a number of articles. Thanks! Copyright / Rights

I'm interested in clarifying the rights issues associated with these clips. I'm sure everything is fine but I couldn't see it covered on the project page. In short, is the BBC claiming to have full rights over these works, thereby allowing them to re-license samples? By which I mean, have the subjects of these clips signed or otherwise agreed to the BBC's ownership of this content to the extent of them relicensing it? As I understand it, when creating audio works, unless some agreement exists, the subjects would have some level of rights over the content. Here's a reply from my contacts at the BBC: "The voice clips are taken from interviews on BBC Radio 4 programmes that are permanently available on bbc.co.uk. The interviews were given with full consent, with the expectation that the BBC holds the rights to the material. No scripted material is being used, so there are no literary copyright issues. Voice samples are currently being uploaded as part of a small scale experiment, which will be fully reviewed." Andy Mabbett (talk) 11:28, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

Spow00's uploads

Hi- I've just come across the uploads from Spow00 (talk · contribs). While this project sounds very exciting, none of the uploads, so far as I can see, contain any evidence of the free release from the BBC. Could I ask someone who is familiar with this project to ensure that there is proper sourcing/licensing information cited on the file pages? If not, these are just going to end up deleted. Anyway to still get free licensed audio clips from the BBC radio programmes?

Is there a way after the intial 2014 project day to get free licensed audio clips from the BBC radio programmes? I wanted to try to get an audio clip of Sean Lock after his death using a clip his appearance on "A Good Read" [1]. Spy-cicle (talk) 21:41, 20 August 2021 (UTC)

Ah I see, thanks for the reply regardless. I am not hugely familiar with how the BBC releases copyright (or if any BBC person will see this), but if they are willing to release copyright again perhaps there could be system where established editors (like those with extended confirmed rights to prevent disruption/abuse, or a higher 'level' to further minimise disruption) could select clips (as detailed from the event in 2014), and submit them. Though I suppose , a BBC employee would have authorise said clips (which I suppose they may not always have the resources to use; i.e. they would probably prefer investing in employees to make copyrighted content then paying employees to release clips of said content, but who knows).
