Hallo! Die drei von mir aufgelisteten Maps (Thirteencolonies settling.jpg, Thirteencolonies people.jpg und Thirteencolonies politics.jpg) basieren, was die Darstellung der geografischen Oberfläche anbelangt, auf der World Relief Map von Hans Braxmeier; die Quelle wurde mir seinerzeit von Kollegen aus de:WP empfohlen. Lizenztechnisch liegt der Fall nach meinen Informationen eindeutig. Die World Relief Map firmiert – wie hier explizit ausgewiesen – unter CC Zero. Bedenklich wäre das einzig dann, wenn WP – oder de:WP – CC-Zero-Material nicht zulassen würde (was meiner Information nach nicht der Fall ist).

Darüber hinaus möchte ich darauf hinweisen, dass die restlichen Parameter – die Hauptarbeit – händisch von mir erstellt wurden, die Erstellung dieser drei (sowie weiterer in de:WP befindlicher) Karten vergleichsweise aufwändig war und mindestens zwei (teils mit Prädikat versehende) Einträge in de:WP durch die Kartenlöschungen deutlich in Mitleidenschaft gezogen würden.

Das Ganze nochmal in Englisch:

Hi! The three maps from me (Thirteencolonies settling.jpg, Thirteencolonies people.jpg and Thirteencolonies politics.jpg) are based on Hans Braxmeier's World Relief Map as far as the depiction of the geographical surface is concerned; the source was recommended to me by colleagues from de:WP. In terms of licensing, the case is clear according to my information. The World Relief Map operates – as explicitly stated here – under CC Zero. The only question would be if WP - or de:WP - would not allow CC-Zero material (which as far as I know is not the case).

In addition, I would like to point out that the remaining parameters - the main work - were created manually by me, the creation of these three maps (as well as other maps located in de:WP) was comparatively complex and at least two entries (partly with predicates) in de :WP would be significantly affected by the map deletions. --Zietz (talk) 12:47, 23 January 2023 (UTC)

Hier haben wir ja den lustigen Fall, daß der Reliefersteller selber (Hans, s. o.) einen LA auf seine Karten gestellt bekommen hatte! Er stellt sein eigenes Werk unter CC0 und wird dann angezeigt, eine URV begangen zu haben, wenn er es nutzt! Elop (talk) 11:43, 24 January 2023 (UTC)

There is a valid license

If you look at https://maps-for-free.com in the top left corner there is an encircled "i" as in information. When this is clicked on it states: "MFF-maps are released under Creative Commons CC0. You are free to adapt and use the relief maps and relief layer for commercial purposes without attributing the original author or source. Although not required, a link to maps-for-free.com is appreciated."
Also in the bottom right corner at https://maps-for-free.com there is text and a link for OpenStreetMap which also states the same license.

So who ever claims there is no license or a license that we can't use has not checked the page in any way and just creates a lot of problems for alot of the graphic workers here.  --please ping me-- Goran tek-en (talk) 12:40, 23 January 2023 (UTC)
