Emanuel Alzate, 3rd Platoon, Company A, 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division is on patrol as the sunrises in the Sangin Valley of southern Afghanistan May 4. The Sangin Valley is one of the heaviest poppy producing regions in the world and has a reputation as a drug lord, Taliban and al-Qaida stronghold making it one of the most dangerous places for U.S. and coalition forces in Afghanistan.
