English: Pfc. Tyee Keah, right, Armed Forces of Liberia combat medic, and Pfc. Tandnapollie Amos, AFL human immunodeficiency virus counselor, talk to a local Monrovian citizen about the HIV virus and protective measures during a medical outreach promotion presented by the Armed Forces of Liberia medical corps in celebration of Armed Forces Day in Monrovia Feb. 4. To celebrate Armed Forces Day, AFL soldiers and U.S. based mentors who are part of Operation Onward Liberty, participated in cleanup efforts throughout the city as well as held a medical outreach to inform local citizens about the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV. OOL is a U.S. government-led mentorship team helping to build capacity within the AFL. The 55th annual Armed Forces Day will be recognized through a week-long celebration of events to include church services, public service, a public symposium and finally, a parade through the streets of Monrovia. |
