Description
English: U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman Third Class Ashley Smith of Cashmere, Wash., Forward Surgical Team Farah operating room technician, left, provides medical treatment to an Afghan National Army soldier at Forward Operating Base Farah, Afghanistan, Aug. 13. Two ANA soldiers were medically treated by coalition forces after sustaining wounds from an Improvised Explosive Device explosion which detonated near the village of Masaw in Pusht Rod district, Farah province. One ANA soldier succumbed to injuries, while the other remains in critical condition and is currently undergoing surgery conducted by the U.S. Navy FST on FOB Farah. He will likely be transported to another hospital for further treatment. One additional ANA soldier was injured as a result of the IED and was transported to an ANA Garrison to receive treatment.
