Immediately after the musteringnit of this regiment at Albany in October. 1864, he entered the serviceis Captain of Co. F in the iSth Xew York Cavalry and served with that>rganization in Louisiana and Texas until the close of the war. Sooniftcr this he removed to the state of Colorado and was there electedo, and served a term in the legislature of that state. He was in the.•.tile business from 1X74 to 190 and during that time was madeReceiver of Public Money in the l\ S. Land Office, in Denver. Colo,n iS<)() and served for over eight years in that position.

Sept. 27. 1864) The meeting of the friends of the 44th Regiment and of membersthereof, was held at Col. McCardels last evening to consult together asto the reception of the regiment. Hon. George H. Thatcher presided,and Mr. J. C. Cuyler acted as Secretary. A letter was read from one of the members in which it was statedthat the regiment would probably reach here in the middle of the week.A committee consisting of the Chairman, Secretary, Messrs. WilliamBarnes, Alex. McRoberts, Hon. George Woolford, Perry Ewing, Wil-liam H. Greene, Paul Cushman, William A. Rice, Tennis G. Vischer,Lieut. James McMillan, David Zeh, David Weaver, Archibald McClureand John P. Rogers was appointed to make the necessary arrangementsfor receiving the regiment. The ex-members of the regiment are requested to meet at Col.McCardels this evening at seven and one-half oclock to make arrange-ments for the recep
