STATIONS STATIONS € LIMAS IN StZmviCAt STATIONS £ lines rrwcH a fie not commission-.* PJtOSVNTr azoes OTTAWA SYSTEM During the past year, the load on the Ottawa System has increased to aconsiderable extent, the load in October, 1921, amounting to 9,098 horse power,compared with 7,640 horse power in October of the previous year. The Com-mission made arrangements under the contract with the Ottawa and HullPower & Manufacturing Company for the supply of additional blocks of powerto meet the local Commissions increasing demand, and further increases havealso been provided for. Owing to the location of the generating station being so near to point ofsupply, there have been practically no interruptions or disturbances in thesupply of power to the local system, and service has been very satisfactory.This Commission has continued to maintain the equipment for metering thepower supply, testing and calibrating it at intervals to insure accuracy. 80 FOURTEENTH ANNUAL REPORT OF THE No. 49

1922 HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER COMMISSION 81 CENTRAL ONTARIO SYSTEM Throughout the past year the Operating Department, co-operating withthe Hydraulic Department, has continued a systematic study of the streamflow and storage possibilities of the Trent River. Although the usefulnessof these studies is lessened somewhat by the fact that the regulation of theflow of the Trent River is under the control of the Department of Railwaysand Canals, they assist in determining the best distribution of load on thedifferent generating stations to give maximum output with water available.These studies, together with previous studies, and the large amount of hydro-graphic data available in connection Avith the Trent River and its tributarystreams, enables the Commission to predict accurately the maximum streamflow which could be maintained without encroaching upon the levels neces-sary for navigation.
