doubtful whether dancing or prayingwould take the sway, but the dancing ceased, and Icommenced praying for the dancers. I told the Lordwhat they had done, and why they had done it,remarking in my prayer that they were evidentlynot Christians, and prayed God to open their eyesto see the folly of their ways, and prepare for thegreat judgment to come. VISITING. 213 sitting down to supper, and gladly accepted an invi-tation to eat. I had heard nothing of Brother Morethrough the day, and at sun-set went to meet him atthe church, as agreed on, but could find no BrotherMore. He said thattheir chief business was drinking, playing poker, andcasting slurs at religion. That night the house wascrowded, and Brother More preached a powerfulsermon. There was weeping through the house, butsinners made no move. The next morning a num-ber of the brethren came to prayer-meeting. I toldthem of the view of the church before the world, thetremendous interests pending, the fearful responsi-bility upon them, their backslidden state, and ex-horted them with all my power and feeling to con-fess their sins and backslidings ope
