| Description |
English: En 1699, les explorateurs français atteignent ce secteur de la Louisiane. Les écrits de Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville identifient le secteur par le nom « Istrouma » ou « Bâton rouge ». D'Iberville décrit de grands poteaux rouges érigés par les Amérindiens avec des têtes de poissons et d'ours offertes en sacrifice. En 1718, les Français construisent un fort près de l'actuelle Bâton Rouge afin de protéger les voyageurs. Le capitole de l'Etat de Louisiane est un gratte-ciel construit en 1932 dans un style Art Déco, haut de 137 mètres avec 34 étages il est le plus grand capitole des Etats-Unis qui a remplacé l'ancien capitole de l'état construit en 1847. |
