The relocation involves the excavationof 850,000 cubic yards of material, dis-tributed, with the exception of one largecut of 135,000 cubicvards and one rock cutof 80,000 cubic yards,among a great manyrather small cuts. Workhas been handled byvarious methods, amongthem being excavatinggrader and team; 70-CBucyrus shovels withnarrow gauge cars; andrevolving Erie shovelswith teams. At Taylorsville aninety-two foot rein-forced concrete arch forcrossing of the relocatedNational Highway hasbeen constructed, con-necting with the top ofthe dam, upon which theNational Highway willrun. This structure is acombination of the openspandrel and suspendedfloor types and is two-ribbed and three-hinged. As has been mentioned,the ground line is veryirregul^,r, making neces-sary many openings forwaterways, which areprovided for by concretepipes and culverts.
