25 cents. &
Every one of these Roses are new varieties and everyone of them is a gem, nothing of their colors compare with them for beauty.
They are the hardiest of the everblooming roses and will live out anywhere, even in the very coldest climates with but slight protec-
tion. I have grown these choice new Roses by the thousand and have decided to give my patrons the benefit of a remarkable low
price, so that all may plant them and see their exceeding great beauty; because they are cheap do not imagine for one minute that
the plants will not be strong and well grown. I guarantee the safe arrival of all my plants anywhere in the U. S. Give me a trial.
Fill out the coupon below and enclose with it 25 cents and secure the "Empress" Collection of magnificent Roses.
New Hardy Ever-blooming Rose, ALICE ADDRIOH — The most richly
and sweetly scented Hardy Rose. A perpetual-blooming Hardy Rose. The hardiest
of Hardy Koses. The most double and beautiful of Perpetual Roses. The most
unique of all Roses. This new and distinct Rose is truly wonderful. It is a pioneer
of a new and most valuable race, namely: absolutely hardy, perpetual blooming and
sweetly scented Roses. The Alice Aldrich is a hybrid between Rosa Rugosa and that
splendid old variety of the hybrid perpetual or remontant class, Caroline de Sansal.
In habit of growth and foliage it strongly resembles the rugosa species, possessing the
same abundant, rich, dark green, clean and healthy foliage and Moss Rose-like buds.
In like manner it inherits the property of this species of blooming with
great profusion in June, and continuing to flower throughout the summer and autumn.
It also possesses all the ruggedness and iron-clad hardiness of its Japanese parent.
On the other hand, the flower in make-up, finish, color and fragrance of its flowers
resembles to a greater degree the Caroline de Sansal. The Roses are medium to
large in size, densely double, beautiful in bud, and of pure, bright peach-blow pink
throughout. There is no other rose we have ever grown that is so rich in delicious
damask perfume. Unlike almost all other Roses, its foliage is exempt from mildew
and the attacks of insects or slugs, remaining healthy, clean and bright, deep green
until turned to a crimson color by frost. In this Rose are united iron-clad hardiness
and perpetual bloom that is richly and sweetly scented — not to mention the beauty of
form, color and make-up and doubleness of Alice Aldrich.
MEDIA— New Golden- Yellow Tea Rose — This is the grandest of all yel-
low Roses, and should be planted by everybody. Its flowers are of the largest size,
perfectly double to the center and of the most perfect shape, both in bud and blossom,
while its color is a degree of loveliness unapproached by any other Rose, beiag a rich
deep golden-yellow, with decided sulphur tints. The brightness and richness of this
Rose is the admiration of all beholders. We have grown in our establishment some
fifty varieties of yellow Roses, and think Media the best.
The Gold Medal Rose, JUBILEE — Its wealth of color. — A pure red in its
deepest tone, shading to deep crimson-red and velvety maroon-red in the depths of
the petals. "The coloring is alive, " as one expressed it. "It fairly glows in its rich
warmth of coloring, " another said. It is admirable, unique, and as Mr. Schnyler
Matthews, the celebrated artist, said, "This Rose contains the darkest eclor, combined
with pure color, of which nature is capable." It will require centuries to produce
its equal — if it ever is produced — for nature i3 not prolific in repititions.
PRISOILLiA— The Charming New White Tea Rose— Another
new American Rose, but as widely different from all other white Roses as one
can well imagine. It belongs to the Tea class. Hardy here in Northern Ohio
with slight protection in Winter. Its habit is exceedingly strong and upright,
and it possesses large, beautiful foliage, and is a most profuse and constant
bloomer. The flowers are of enormous size, remarkably round and full, pure,
clear, snowy-white throughout, and are delightfully Tea-scented. It is by far
the finest and most reliable white bedding Rose yet produced. Without ques-
tion the largest white Rose both in bud and flower. No other Rose of its color
approaches it in size.
SOUV. DE PRESIDENT OARNOT— This new Rose is away above
the average in many good qualities. It is a Rose of the largest size, beautiful
both in bud and open flower. The buds come on long, stiff stems, in clusters
of from six to twelve. Each individual flower stands out distinct on its stem.
No crowding, as in the case of so many Roses that bloom in clusters. The
color is distinct and novel, a lovely fawn, shading to pearl. It often measures
five to six inches in diameter. Delightfully fragrant. We know of no finer
Rose than President Carnot. Try it. It will be sure to please you.

This tag is designed for use where there may be a need to assert that any enhancements (eg brightness, contrast, colour-matching, sharpening) are in themselves insufficiently creative to generate a new copyright. It can be used where it is unknown whether any enhancements have been made, as well as when the enhancements are clear but insufficient. For known raw unenhanced scans you can use an appropriate {{PD-old}} tag instead. For usage, see Commons:When to use the PD-scan tag.

Note: This tag applies to scans and photocopies only. For photographs of public domain originals taken from afar, {{PD-Art}} may be applicable. See Commons:When to use the PD-Art tag.
