oO 11 ffl ! .4 3 State Highway Commission 65 Plans are being prepared for Federal Aid project No. 93, consisting of 19.8 milesof topsoil road, beginning at the Nash County line, near Castalia, and extendingthrough the northeastern corner of the county into Warren County at Liberia,near Warrenton. Approximately 8.0 miles of this project lie within the boundariesof Franklin County, which will bear 25 per cent of the cost of constructing thissection. The entire project involves an expenditure of approximately $116,579.21. Maintenance Maintenance work in this county is carried on under the township system, all ofthe townships in the county doing very good work except one. The roads havebeen machined, topsoiled where needed, culverts kept open, bushes cut back, andbridges repaired. One State truck and one road machine are in use, some of thetownships owning tractors. GASTON Only one project has been built in this county with Federal Aid funds. Construc-tion is in progress on the section of
