The principal items of construction, plans for which were prepared by our designing and drafting force, have already been mentioned.The permanent records of the department have also been kept up to date and made more comprehensive. In addition to many preliminary sketches and estimates and smaller routine work, the following plans were prepared: Pier 34, Extension. Widening of Pier 34 on the south side with a depressed track connected with the Belt Railroad; extension of timber and creosoted piles 10 feet by 650 feet. Pier 22, Extension. An addition to the pier at the outer end, 127 feet by 320 feet, of timber and creosoted piles with a wooden shed. Pier 44, Extension. An addition to the pier at the outer end extending to the pier head line, 146 feet by 148 feet, of timber and creosoted piles with a two-story timber shed. Launch Office. REPORT OF BOARD OF STATE HARBOR COMMISSIONERS. 41 Post Office. Several plans for the enlargement of the post office south of the Ferry Building. 10. RECOMMENDATIONS. In the last report, several projects were recommended for your consideration and of these the most important were carried out or begun during the two years following. At this time I wish to mention two projects which might profitably be started during the current biennial period: China Basin Terminal. The substructure for the China Basin Terminal will be completed during 1923, and the plans for the superstructure will also be prepared.Before the completion of the substructure the financing of the construction of the terminal building should be so arranged that there will be no delay in proceeding with its erection.
