School Administration and Management 61-62: This course is in-tended to give the student an introduction to the general plan of theorganization and administration of schools in the United States, andespecially in Virginia. The course of study, classification, grading,promotion, and the daily program are prominent subjects of dis-cussion. The relationship of the teacher to the superintendent, thetrustees, the patrons, and the community is analyzed, and the dutiesof the above officials are pointed out. The utilization of spare time,the recess and noon periods, after school hours, and kindred topics aretreated.

Rural School Problems and School Sanitation 51: This should bean intensely interesting and practical course in which the problemsconnected with rural school work are discussed. These problems areclearly stated, the relation of the teacher and the school to them areascertained and remedies sought. Especial stress is laid upon Vir-ginia conditions. Free classroom discussion is provided for andencouraged. One of the most insistent of the problems of the ruralschool is that of school sanitation. The care of the childs health is offirst importance, and the aim of this course is to acquaint the teacherwith the schoolroom conditions that make for health, and those thattend to impair it.
