In no other way can practice teaching lead to independentprogressive teaching ability that will give the student teacher thepower to adapt herself to the needs of any public school. Through an arrangement with the City School Board the Fred-ericksburg public school serves as the practice school for the NormalSchool. The relationship, therefore, between the two schools > isintimate and cordial. The Training School is a large and handsome three-story brickbuilding, constructed, together with its equipment, at a cost of about$45,000.00. All of the grades are represented in the school. The enrollment of the Training School for the past session wasover 900. Every effort is being made through the cooperation of theNormal School and the City School Board to raise the standardof excellence of the Training School so that it will become one ofthe model schools of the State in all of its departments.
