Image title | LA PUSH, Wash.,- (L to R) Doug Cameron, U.S. Coast Guard District 13 Aids to Navigation Hardware manager, works with Army crewmen to finish the rigging of a buoy which washed ashore here during a winter storm.
Members from the U.S. Coast Guard District 13 Aids to Navigation Hardware Shop, U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Fir, a CH-47 Chinook aircrew from the U.S. Army Reserves' Bravo Company 214th General Support Aviation Battalion, U.S. Coast Guard Station Quillaute River and members from the Quileute Tribe worked together to remove the buoy that washed up on shore in the winter of 2010. The operation was largely coordinated by the crew aboard the Fir and the D13 ATON Hardware Shop. The aircrew, based out of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, worked out custom rigging with the hardware shop for the evolution. The buoy, which in the interim was replaced, had broke free of its mooring and washed up on the beach during a winter storm. After the Chinook crew placed the buoy back in the water, it was picked up by the crew from the Fir to be transported to Astoria, Ore., so it can be refurbished and put back into service.
