Daniel Massingill, C-5B Galaxy flight engineer with the 312th Airlift Squadron, descends the stairs from the flight deck to the cargo box during preflight operations at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, Aug. 15, 2014. Flight engineers control key systems on the aircraft, including fuel management, electronics and environmental systems.
