Description
  • Cherenkov radiation from a charged particle moving nearly at the speed of light in a medium with index of refraction n = 1.25. Wavefronts emitted at times 0,1...5 form a shock-front cone with an opening angle alpha=arcsin(0.8).
  • Caution: this hand-coded image has librsvg-rendering-error-workaround <text font-size="26px" transform="rotate(-36.873)" y="272" x="-4" font-style="italic" fill="blue">r = vt = ct/n</text>.
