The Brewer Pneumatic Door Openerappears to be deservedly working its way to the frontas not only a labor saver, but also a fuel saver, andby its action in opening and closing the firedoor al-most instantaneously, it also protects the flues, as itprevents the large volume of cold air from enteringthe firebox with each shovelful of coal, which isunavoidable with the old style method of opening thedoor. The sudden cooling of the back ends of theflues is thus to a large extent prevented, while at thesame time the single shovel system of firing is insured.The apparatus is simple and durable, having veryfew parts, and therefore does not easily get out oforder.
