Planes Collide, Two Killed in One Craft. (By Associated Press) New York, December 23, 1940. Two men were killed today when a navy plane and small monoplane collided over Floyd Bennett field. The monoplane, piloted by Eddie Schneider, 26, an instructor, and George Herzog, 22, a pilot taking a "refresher" course, went into a spin and crashed Into Jamaica bay off Marine park. Brooklyn. The navy ship, piloted by Ensign Keuhner and with Cadet Franklin Newcomer as a passenger, made a safe landing at Floyd Bennett field, only slightly damaged.
