Summary[edit]

Description

Fr@sm PETER HEMDEMOM
O., MEW YOIRH.
The Kirke Automatic Lawn Feeder.
It applies the fertilizer while watering, and feeds the grass or garden with high grade, immediately
available, concentrated plant food. See cuts- Nos. 1 and 2.
The Kirke fertilizer dispenser is a neat device easily attached to any garden hose. It will last
a life time, and can be used both for Kirke Fertilizer and Insecticide cartridges. See cut No. 4 .
The cartridge stick of Concentrated Fertilizer for the lawn and garden, and the Nicotine Cart-
ridges for the destruction of soft bodied insects, dissolve in as much water as will pass through the
ordinary garden hose in about five hours. They are clean, odorless and nonpoisonous, and will give
perceptible results after one weeks use on the lawn or in the garden.
The cartridges that fit into the feeder are prepared from the highest grade of concentrated fertilizer.,
absolutely soluble and quick acting. A combination to make plants grow and flourish, keep the grass
green and the flowers in bloom. Its available elements of plant food in one tablet are equal to at least
SO lbs. of good stable manure, but contains none of the impurities, such as odor, unsightly refuse or-
seeds of weeds, not to speak of the amount of labor required first in distributing and later in removing;
the undissolved refuse.
The fertilizer cartridge is sufficiently hardened to prevent a too rapid wasting, but is thoroughly
dissolved as it leaves the nozzle or lawn sprinkler, and is therefore in a condition to be readily absorbed
by the roots of the plants or grass. '
The nicotine cartridge is made from a free nicotine, which, when applied to both indoor and out=
door vegetation, acts as a preventive against aphis, thrip, green fly, rose bug, mealy bug, etc.
Price Kirke Fertilizer and Insecticide Dispenser, nickel plated, as shown in cut No. 4, $3.00.
Mail weight 2 lbs-
Price Kirke Fertilizer and Insecticide cartridges S3. 00 per dozen. Mail weight 8 lbs.
THE "VELVETLAWN" SEEDEFv
A VALUABLE NEW MACHINE FOR SEEDING NEW LAWNS
Also for renovating worn out lawns and bad spots Puts the seed IN old sod or IN newly prepared
ground, covers and rolls it.
The "Velvetlawn" Seeder is a valuable new machine for seeding new lawns and doubly valua-
ble for renovating worn out lawns and bad spots in Greens, Tennis Courts, etc., without redigging or
plowing, and without marring the surface. It puts the seed
IN newly prepared ground or IN old sod — the seed is dis-
tributed very evenly in any desired quantity — wind or no wind,
not too thick in some places and too thin in others. In new
ground or soft turf it is easily operated by one man but in old hard sod it may require another person to pull. The
revolving discs cut narrow trenches the seed being sown in it and immediately behind the discs. There are eight of these
discs with their accompanying seed spouts. These sow 2 inches apart — putting the seed in at any desired depth thus the
machine sows a strip 16 inches wide as fast as a man can walk. It will sow and cross sow an area 50 x 150 feet in thirty
minutes, a little roller follows each seed spout thus pressing the soil back and covering the seed. As each
disc, seed spout and roller work individually they therefore adapt themselves to the inequalities of the
ground — insuring a perfectly even stand of grass. Price, Hand Power Velvet Lawn Seeder, complete with
press wheels, net $15.00.
The Henderson Double Hopper Wheelbarrow Seeder.
Sows Grass Seed Mixtures as well as Heavy Seeds or Light Chaffy Seeds.
This is a superior Seeder. One side of the Seed Box is adapted for all such heavy seeds as clover, timothy;
millet, alfalfa, Hungarian, etc. The opposite side handles the light chaffy
seeds, as Red top, Kentucky blue, Orchard grass, etc. as well as grass seed
mixtures for golf, pasture, hay, lawns, etc. The machine may be easily regu-
lated to sow any desired quantity per acre, sowing it accurately and evenly
the whole length of the hopper — 14 feet — and it does not clog up. The total
weight of thj machine is only 40 pounds. The hopper is perfectly balanced
and is close to the large wheel — giving greatest force with least exertion,
and leaving light weight on the operator. Every machine warranted to do
good work, and of especial value on a windy day. Full directions with each
seeder. Price, 110.00.

Public domain

This work is in the public domain in its country of origin and other countries and areas where the copyright term is the author's life plus 70 years or fewer.

This tag is designed for use where there may be a need to assert that any enhancements (eg brightness, contrast, colour-matching, sharpening) are in themselves insufficiently creative to generate a new copyright. It can be used where it is unknown whether any enhancements have been made, as well as when the enhancements are clear but insufficient. For known raw unenhanced scans you can use an appropriate {{PD-old}} tag instead. For usage, see Commons:When to use the PD-scan tag.

Note: This tag applies to scans and photocopies only. For photographs of public domain originals taken from afar, {{PD-Art}} may be applicable. See Commons:When to use the PD-Art tag.
