©pigenisée, ce qui fait supposer quil y a là unmétamorphisme de contact provenant du voisinage dulaccolithe de gabbro et dautres roches éruptives. Vers le sud-est, sur les rives et sur les îles du lac Ramsay,le grauwacke fait place à un quartzite gris pâle en bancsépais, bien stratifié, mais souvent à stratification entre-croisée. Le pendage est généralement denviron 45 degrés,et la direction est nord-est et sud-est. Les quartzites dulac Ramsay forment un groupe très étendu dune largeurde 6 milles, et dune épaisseur estimée à 15.000 pieds (4.500mètres.) Ils semblent surmonter le grauwacke, bien que,de fait, on nait jamais trouvé de bons contacts. Des massifs de greenstone ou de gabbro très décomposéont envahi les quartzites en différents endroits, et des granitsou des gneisses granitoïdes à faces laurentiennes les recou-pent au sud et au sud-est.
