ANNUAL LARKSPURS
This is one of the be..!t known garden floweis, and in recent years a
vast improvement has been effected, by careful selection in size and
color of the blossoms and the general habit of the plant. Seeds sown in
the open ground before the close of April will produce flowering plants
by the beginning of July, and give a continuous succession of flowers
from then until frost, a record that is not surpassed by any other an-
nual. They make handsome beds or lines, and their free graceful habit
and bright colors are very effective when interspersed in the old-
fashioned flower or shrubbery border. They stand well when cut, and a
v-ase of one or mixed colors is indeed charming.
