Hollyhocks are the largest and most beautiful
of any. Flowers 4 to 6 inches across, fringed
and curled with a peculiar texture which looks
like crushed silk. Shell pink, rose and ruby-
red ; flames of colors delicately shaded toward
the edge. Every flower opens on the spike.

This grand old plant was always dear to us
all. But of late years it is a wonder. Enor-
mous flowers with such deep colors, such deli-
cate shades of pink, blush and yellow,
with all the darker ones to almost black.

FAIRY ROSE SEED.
(Rosa Multiflora nana Perpetua.)
This is the true New Hardy Hybrid Perpetual, Ever-Blooming Rose, which
will surely blossom in 60 days. I have a photograph of a plant in flower 28
days from sowing the seed. This variety is entirely new and very expen-
sive, and must not be confounded with seed sold as " Polyantha" or
" M ultiflora " which simply means "many flowered " and will not bloom
under four to six months, and altogether inferior in even,- way. These
roses are a wonderful freak of nature. These sturdy little Midgets
start to flower in babyhood two months from seed. They flower on
little shoots 3 inches high. With age the flowers increase "in size and
number, until large trusses of bloom cover the plant from spring until frost,
when the flower trusses are closely followed by clusters of bright red hips
or seed pods. They are hardy and live from year to year, in-
creasing in beauty and perfection each year. The flowers come
double, semi-double, in many colors, white, pink and crimson.
