F OLDEN TIME. that the unfortunate calf never thrived, afterwards, but died soon after, in great pain. But we have not finished our story yet. In thecourse of the forenoon, having occasion to go tomill, about five miles distant, Turner set off withhorse and sleigh. When he had passed about halfthis distance, he reached the house of a neighbor, whom he saw standing in the door. The man beggedTurner to step in and see his grandmother, who, hesaid, was taken suddenly ill in the night. After thisnight we may conclude nothing ever again disturbedthe haunted house.
