The University of Leipzig, in Saxony, ismade use of by a few Americans for medicalstudy. Leipzig is one of the mo^t interestingof German cities, and one finds there manyAmericans in various lines of work outside ofmedicine. On the medical faculty, however,are many worthy men, among whom may bementioned Curschmann, Trendelenburg, andMarch and. Konigsberg, in Prussia, founded in 1544,has a number of good men on its faculty. Astudents club, the Palaestra x^lbertina, madepossible by the gift of Dr. Fritz Lange, ofNew York, is along the same lines as theHarvard Union, and is open to the entirestudent body. Here are to be founda number of famous men: Ponfick, in pathol-ogy; riuegge, in bacteriology; Striimpell, inmedicine; Ivuestner, in gynaecology; Garre,in surgery; Huerthle, in physiologic chemistry;Czerny, in pediatrics. Greifswald, in Prussia, was founded in 1456.LoefBer and Grawitz are the two names bestknown to us on this medical faculty. Halle, in Prussian Saxony, on the Saale,was united with Wittenberg in 1817. Thisvery pretty town, not far from Leipzig, is wellworth a visit. Harnacks laboratory is ofinterest to all physiologic chemists, and Er-berth, whose name is associated with thetyphoid bacillus, is here. Frankel also shouldnot be passed by without mention. Giessen, in Hesse Darmstadt, founded in1607, is situated in a plain some thirty milesfrom Frankfort am Main. Bostroem inpathology, Strahl in anatomy, and Pfannen-stiel in obstetrics, are well-known professorsin this university. Got
