Here are to be founda number of famous men: Ponfick, in pathol-ogy; riuegge, in bacteriology; Striimpell, inmedicine; Ivuestner, in gynaecology; Garre,in surgery; Huerthle, in physiologic chemistry;Czerny, in pediatrics. Greifswald, in Prussia, was founded in 1456.LoefBer and Grawitz are the two names bestknown to us on this medical faculty. Halle, in Prussian Saxony, on the Saale,was united with Wittenberg in 1817. Thisvery pretty town, not far from Leipzig, is wellworth a visit. Harnacks laboratory is ofinterest to all physiologic chemists, and Er-berth, whose name is associated with thetyphoid bacillus, is here. Frankel also shouldnot be passed by without mention. Giessen, in Hesse Darmstadt, founded in1607, is situated in a plain some thirty milesfrom Frankfort am Main. Bostroem inpathology, Strahl in anatomy, and Pfannen-stiel in obstetrics, are well-known professorsin this university. Got
