English: Army mariners from the 481st Transportation Company (Heavy Boat) - Detachment 3, 371st Sustainment Brigade, 143rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), 1st Theater Sustainment Command, prepare ropes aboard the Landing Craft Utility 2018, Five Forks, here Oct. 25. The ropes, used to tie the watercraft while docked, must be whipped to prevent the lines from unlaying. The crew is preparing the ropes for its new vessel, the LCU-2016, Corinth. In addition to transferring equipment from the Five Forks, the crew spent days preparing the Corinth installing equipment already within the local fleet, thus avoiding approximately $50,000 in additional costs without reducing mission capability. The Five Forks will return to the U.S. for its six-month on condition cyclic maintenance and three-month service life extension program. |
