Description
English: A U.S. Civil Affairs sergeant, attached to Special Operations Task Force - South, performs an intraosseous infusion on a two-year old boy who was rushed to a coalition operating base after being hit by a car in northern Khakrez District, Kandahar province, Afghanistan, June 20. An IO is the process of injection directly into the bone marrow and is used in emergency situations to provide fluids and medication when an intravenous line cannot be used.
