Description
Deutsch: Der Tunnel verbindet das Hotel Astoria mit der Richard-Wagner-Straße am Halleschen Tor. Ein besonderes Verkehrsbedürfnis bestand an dieser Stelle schon zur Bauzeit nicht. Der Tunnel ist aber wie der breite Grünstreifen der Gerberstraße eine Vorleistung für die seit den 1960ern geplante Tieferlegung der Straßenbahnstrecken im Innenstadtring, zu der es schließlich nie kam. Ein Zeichen für die geringe Verkehrsbedeutung ist, dass der Tunnel nie barrierefrei gemacht wurde.
