English: Sgt. Michael Hazelton, 164th Military Police Company, military police officer, points out all the areas of destruction to a contractor Sept. 19 following a windstorm that swept through parts of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. The wind gusts damaged buildings, 12 vehicles and overturned a contractor box-truck and although actual wind speed was not recorded, witnesses believed that wind gusts reached speeds of more than 100 mph and that the winds also tossed plywood and other debris as high as 250 feet in the air. While no one was injured from the wind gusts, initial estimates report thousands of dollars worth of damage to personal, contracted and military property. |
