he Board of Education, schoolnurses assist the physician in the examination of children, andseek to promote the health and well-being of the children in thedistrict.3 With the nurses, even more than with the physicians, thequestion of personality is of extreme importance. Not only mustthe nurse have great tact and judgment in her intimate dealingswith the families of her district, but she must be supremely inter-ested in the sociological side of the problem with which she hasto deal. She must be not only a woman of judgment, executive )See Appendix C. 2Because of the rapidly increasing amount of interest in public health work,it is probable that the time has arrived when it is possible to obtain full-time physicianswho might be more specially trained for school health work, and who, because of theirfull-time service, would take a deeper interest in the work. Eight full-time employeeswould give much more efficient service than is given under the present arrangement. •-See Appendix D.
