Description |
English: Per Ekström went to France in 1876 and stayed there until 1890. In 1882–1887, he was living in the village of Carolles on the Nomandy coast, where he found the scene for this painting. From the 1880s, his plein air painting focused on the study of the atmospheric effects of light, as in this portrayal of a water meadow on a sunny, misty spring day. One of his primary influences was the French landscape painter Camille Corot. |
