English: A C-130 J equipped with the Modular Airborne Firefighting System from the 146th Airlift Wing, California Air National Guard is marshaled into the reloading pit at the Boise tanker base Aug. 7, 2012. The 146th Airlift Wing is working with the U.S. Forest Service by dropping retardant on wildfires in the region around Boise and has been recently joined by two MAFFS equipped C-130s from the 302nd Airlift Wing, Air Force Reserve from Peterson AFB, Colorado Springs, Colo. Altogether there are three Air National Guard and one Air Force Reserve units currently equipped with the MAFFS 2 systems in the U.S. C-130s with the MAFFS 2 system are an important part of the Forest Service's efforts to fight wildfires throughout the U.S. |
