Title
Red-Figure Kylix with Running Warriors
Description
English: Pamphaios, one of the premier potters of Athens in this period, made this elegantly shaped "kylix" and signed his name around the thin edge of the foot. Another artist, known as the Nikosthenes Painter, depicted a festive celebration of manhood in the chain of young warriors that runs around the vase's exterior. Each warrior carries his helmet and bears a shield with a unique emblem. The single figure in the "tondo" (circular area) of the vase's interior has a skillfully drawn a scorpion on his shield.
