Norsk bokmål: Frederick George Jackson, britisk offiser, polarforsker og leder for ekspedisjonen til Frans Josefs Land 1894-1897 foran den meteorologiske stasjonen i Elmwood. Fra venstre russisk tømmerhytte, stall til hester og fire runde telt til utrustningen. Ett av bildene fra ekspedisjonen med polarskip mot Nordpolen i perioden 24 juni 1893 til 13 august 1896. Etter planen skulle skipet drive i isen med havstrømmer fra Sibirkysten over Nordpolen mot Grønland. I mars 1895 foretok Fridtjof Nansen sammen med en ledsager en hasardiøs skiferd med hundesleder i forsøket på å komme til polpunktet.

Nach dem Plan sollte das Schiff im Eis mit den Meeresströmungen von der sibirischen Küsten über den Nordpol nach Grönland treiben. Im März 1895 unternahm Fridtjof Nansen zusammen mit einem Begleiter einen abenteuerlichen Skimarsch mit Hundeschlitten in einem Versuch zum Polpunkt zu kommen.
