At the beginning of the year, Dartmouths brilliant recordseemed to give it an unquestioned path to the championship, butas the season progressed it was seen that the Williams five wasto be a formidable contender for the title, Wesleyan had one ofthe strongest teams sent out by that college, but was weak offher own floor and became demoralized at the end of the season.Brown played an inconsistent game and her great fault was thatshe depended too much on the ability of one player. In the first game of the season Dartmouth easily defeatedWesleyan and followed this victory by overwhelming Williamsby the score of 24—8. The Hanover team continued its winningrecord until its final trip during the early part of March, whenit met defeat at the hands of Brown and Williams. As thepurple five had won the remainder of the games in her schedule,the season closed with Williams the champion, with only onedefeat against her.
