igher up, andall these indications point to the probability of deep mining at Porcupine. Outside of the producing mines there have been important working extensionsof the camp both north and south. The Ankerite property in northern Deloro,belonging to the Coniagas Mines of Cobalt, has started the sinking of a 500-footshaft on contract. The Maidens-Macdonald, an adjoining property, has.also beenbought by the same interests. Control in the ISTewray, formerly the Pay property, situated to the north-eastof the Pearl Lake group, has been acquired by Crown Reserve and Dominion Ee-duction interests of Cobalt. This was one of the early discoveries of the Porcupinecamp, but owing to lack of sufficient capital the property was never given athorough testing out. Eecent developments indicate that it is likely to becomean important producer in the future. This district was very active during the year, and many new propeitieshave been opened up, extending the probable producing area very materially. Thenew development has been mostly to the west and south-west of Kirkland Lake. The following is a list of the most active properties running roughly fromwest to east: Canadian Kirkland.
