Description |
English: The Canadian painter William Blair Bruce came to be a part of the Swedish art scene. In the Scandinavian artist colony in Grez-sur-Loing outside Paris, he met the Swedish sculptor and graphic artist Carolina Benedicks in 1885. They married and eventually settled on Gotland. Open-air Studio was painted in Grez and the woman in the picture is probably the artist’s wife. She is working on an engraving behind a textile screen that serves to distribute the light more evenly. |
