Hoezeer in naam de belegering van Jeruzalem voor-stellende, geeft het feitelijk een beeld van die eener Vlaamsche stad, overwier hooge ommuring eene reusachtige blide of catapult zijn steenen werpt.Niet minder waardevol is Frontispice II, voorstellende de innamevan Rh en en in Hooimaand 14()0, door den Hertog van Kleef.

Afb. N°. 93 geeft ten slotte nog eene zeer duidelijke voorstelling- van eene stad in de tweede helft der XIV de eeuw met hare ommuring en omgrachting, met hare kasteelvormige poorten en zware muur- torens, het is de stad Brugge, genomen naar een miniatuur uit een der handschriften van J. Froissard. Buiten de omgrachting zijn de Bruggenaren in strijd met de Gentenaren en in die strijdende groep, ziet men reeds de mitrailleuse dier dagen, bestaande uit drie kleine donderbussen, naast elkaar op één verrolbaar onderstel bevestigd.
